Creaton Village Shop

Creaton Village Shop is a community owned and managed shop and Post Office that opened its doors for trading in August 2018. From 2016, when the concept of setting up a community shop on a new site was first conceived, to the present day, many people have contributed a large amount of work on a voluntary basis. By no means least of these is our Operations Director, who, having run a convenience store in the neighbouring village for many years, freely offered his services to oversee the management of our retail operations.

Whilst the Management Committee is sorry to announce that our Operations Director now wishes to stand down, it does recognise that the role is too big to expect any individual to carry out on a voluntary basis. After three successful years of trading, Creaton Village Shop is now offering an opportunity to candidates with suitable skills and experience to apply for this exciting new part-time paid position. 

Applicants should have previous managerial experience, preferably in retail, and have good literacy and numeracy skills. They should be customer focussed, with attention to detail, particularly in areas that will affect compliance, the customer experience, profitability, and matters that impact team morale. Whilst the Manager will provide oversight of the day-to day management of the convenience store, individual tasks will be shared appropriately with the Assistant Managers, who also run the Post Office counter.

The shop counter is run almost entirely by volunteers with support from the paid staff. The successful candidate will also have the benefit of support from our outgoing Operations Director during a handover period.
