21 August 2017On the way...

Well, we have reached the middle of August, the harvest is going on all around us and the current shop is still open (for the moment), which is good news. We await to hear the result of the planning application which should be known at the end of the month. If you have not seen the artist's impression of the new shop, the picture is in the shop window on the High Street.

Recently several people offering their voluntary services attended a meeting at Charles and Sue Matts' home. The response has been good and we have about half the necessary worksforce to enable the shop to open 7 days a week. Many people have said that they are unsure of they can commit now to something that will not happen until the end of the year. That's fine, just keep the shop in mind. Some have said that they cannot commit to a regular time every week. That's fine as well. 2 hours a fortnight or a month is better than nothing at all. Please look to see if you can give a few hours to help your shop run. And parents might be interested to know that we may be taking volunteers from as young as 14 - think how good this will look on their CV.

Other developments include the preparation of the share issue - look out for news about this in the coming weeks. Remember that shares are £20 each and we would like everyone in Creaton, Cottesbrooke, Hollowell and Teeton to own one. Some people are talking about buying them as Christmas presents for their family. You don't even have to live in this community to own a share - we don't mind where they go!

And finally, we are very grateful to the National Lottery for giving us £10,000 and to Northamptonshire Community Foundation for £3,000. We are on the way...
